Fluoride Regulation Updates Updates on changes in Davis and Salt Lake Counties
Davis County • The Fluoride Regulation was revised on August 13, 2013 • Training requirements were better defined • Documentation of training is now required; to be submitted to the Health Department by January 15 of each year
Salt Lake County • The Fluoride Regulation, Regulation #33, is currently being revised • There will be a public comment period • The revision was done in conjunction with Davis County
Revisions • Training • 6 hour training required for all new operators working in fluoride treatment • 3 hour biannual refresher training required thereafter • Davis County – Submit record of training to Davis County • Salt Lake County – Keep record of training on site to be verified upon request
Revisions continued • Safe Drinking Water Disclosure Act (SDWDA) also known as House Bill 72 • DDW will discuss in detail • County responsibilities • Keep copies of the original, dated documents used to obtain the NSF/ANSI Standard 60 certification of the fluoride chemical(s) being used which are obtained from supplier • Verifying CoA’s are adequate • http://www.drinkingwater.utah.gov/Topics/fluoride.htm Visit this website for the most up to date information on SDWDA
Revisions continued • Water System Responsibilities • Acquire, review, and maintain a batch specific Certificate of Analysis; this must include the “Utah 9”. • Upon request of a member of the public, provide a copy of the Certificate of Analysis
Looking at the Future • Look for the Salt Lake County regulation revision in the 2nd quarter • Reporting changes • New forms will be created to ensure standardization of reports
