  2. What is La Défense? • Europe’s largest business district. La Défense lies in the westernmost extremity of Paris's 10 km long Historical axis.

  3. Why was La Défense created, and when was it built? • The business district was created in the 1960’s to accumulate the offices of major companies by the government. • La Defense is the skyscraper district although the buildings are not that high – the tallest tower is 200 meters

  4. Where is it located?

  5. History • Named after the soldiers who “defended” Paris in the during the Franco Prussian war. • The Nobel Tower was the first tower built, in 1966. • Built in place for factories, shanties, and even few farms.
