  2. Objective To instruct pledge class 2004 on the proper way to react to an ambush initiated by the enemy with a casualty-producing device and/or a high volume of fire

  3. Near Ambush • Soldiers receiving fire: Take cover Throw grenade Assault through ambush • Soldiers not receiving fire: Take cover Identify enemy positions Initiate suppressive fire

  4. Ambush is here!!!!

  5. Far Ambush • Soldiers receiving fire: Destroy or suppress crew served weapons first Obscure enemy position with smoke Sustain suppressive fire • Soldiers not receiving fire: Flank enemy position and assault or: Call indirect fire

  6. Ambush is here!!!!

  7. Near or Far Ambushes • Squad Leader reports to higher • Reorganize as necessary • Continue mission

  8. Conclusion • Don’t walk into an ambush in the first place • Take cover • Remember proper movement techniques • Disable most dangerous weapons first
