  2. Business Circulation Data • Looks at Business Library circulation activity • Is only one measure of collection usage • Circulation Desk uses several happening locations: Business, Butler, Borrow Direct, HSL • No circulation data for non-circulating collections ReCAP Columbia University

  3. 6. Observations • Total volume of charges has declined by 58.4% (compared to 27.4% decline system-wide) • Volume of discharge predictably mirrors charges • Decline due in part to large volume of transfer to ReCAP • Noticeably sharper decline for graduates students than other patron groups ReCAP Columbia University

  7. Circ Activity by Collection • Data for all transactions in the Business Happening Location • Increasing proportion of activity for the Reserves collection • Offsite charges are placed in the Butler Happening Location • Data unavailable for non-circulating collections ReCAP Columbia University

  10. Circ Activity by Sub-Collection • Little use of Reserves by faculty • Majority of usage of Offsite collections are from faculty and graduate students • Fine grained usage charts • Business • Business Reserves • Offsite ReCAP Columbia University

  14. Business Circulation by Patron Group • Undergraduates and graduates use Reserves more heavily • Faculty focused on main collection • Patron Group definitions have changed: • Adjunct faculty, in 2008 grad students were given primary group OFF instead of GRD • Pie charts break down data for FY13 only ReCAP Columbia University

  18. Monthly Patron Group Activity • Greater proportion of charges are going to undergraduates • Perhaps triggered by competition for library space across campus • Heavier use by graduate students in Fall term compared to Spring ReCAP Columbia University

  22. Patron Group Activity • Increasing use by undergraduates • Increase of faculty may be graduate students with teaching responsibilities (temporary OFF borrowing privileges) • Expectation that undergraduate usage will continue to grow and grad to decline ReCAP Columbia University

  25. Patron Group Activity • Usage by faculty and visitors heavily tilted towards the general collections on campus • Breakdown of collection usage by patron group • Indicates which sub-collections are used proportionally more per user group ReCAP Columbia University
