  2. Luck • 행운is the Korean symbol for good luck • The color green in Korea symbolizes a fresh start, youth, and new energy • The color white symbolizes purity and innocence, but a white chrysanthemum symbolizes death • 7 is considered a lucky number , while 4 is considered an unlucky number

  3. Pottery • In A Single Shard, Tree-ear dreams of making a prunus vase. A Prunus vase is a vase made specifically to display a single branch of flowering plum. • The color of clay that the potters desire fires to be a gray-green color • Different colored clays fire to be different colored pottery

  4. Clothing • Traditional Korean clothing for women includes a jeogori (similar to a blouse), a chima (skirt) and accessories. • Traditional Korean Men’s clothing includes a jeogori,paji (baggy pants) and accessories • Commoners wore white, except for special occasions like weddings and festivals

  5. Food • A traditional Korean dish is kimchi (vegetables and seasoning) • Korean cuisine is based on rice, noodles, tofu vegetables, and meat • Sannakji ,or live octopus, is served live and still moving on the plate.
