Understanding the following terms is essential to assisting your schools integration into the new millennium. Hyperlink: A direct path from a source document, image, etc., to another object in a destination document. Hypermedia: A combination of hypertext and multimedia elements such as graphic, images, audio and video used in conjunction with computers’ technology. Hypertext: The text which contains connections (called hyperlinks, hot words or hot links) to other documents. (to open hyperlink, double click, close window after viewing and you will return to this power point)
Multimedia: A term referring to the combination of music, video, text, and images.
Textbooks are expensive and heavy Many textbook companies are including power point presentations and CD-ROMs for students Multimedia allows the author to include far more documents and resources. Also allows for the addition of audio, video, and multiple links to additional information. How is multimedia useful?
Multimedia combines: storing and retrieving technology with tools for viewing and/or manipulating dataThe reader becomes the “captain” of themultimedia journey.
