  2. Skyscapeover Kenya 8/27 Persian proverb "Night hides the world, but reveals a universe. The brightest light in the sky is Venus Faint stars, and our Milky Way galaxy can also be seen.

  3. Spica, Mars, and Eclipsed Moon 8/29 The moon appears red because it is totally eclipsed by the Earth. The bright bluish star below the moon is Spica of the constellation Virgo. Brighter than Spica on the right, Mars is closest to Earth.

  4. 9/3 ORION ARISING Orion's belt runs just along the horizon. The belt stars, Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka run right to left. Orion's sword, home to the great Orion Nebula, hangs above his belt. Rigel, at the foot of Orion, is higher above Orion's belt. The brightest celestial beacon in the frame is Sirius, alpha star of the constellation Canis Major.
