What is that???? • A conditional statement is an if and then statement. • If A, then B • A is the antecedent or cause • B is the conclusion
Raining Example and Non-example • Which is a true statement? • If it is raining, then I carry my umbrella. • OR • If I carry my umbrella, then it is raining. • Decide with teacher true statement. Go to the next slide for the answer.
Raining Answer • The first statement is true. If it is raining then you should carry an umbrella to shield you from the rain. • The second statement is false, just because you carry an umbrella doesn’t mean it will rain!!!
Figure Example and Non-example • Okay try to get this one!!! • Which one is the true statement???? • If a figure is a rectangle, then it is a square. • OR • If a figure is a square, then it is a rectangle. • Decide with your teacher and the answer is next.
Figure answer • A square is a rectangle because it has four sides. • Not all rectangles are a square, because with a square all sides are of equal length. That is not necessarily true with a rectangle. • The second statement is true!!

Materials • Construction paper or Copy paper • Colored pencils • Pencils • Stapler
Theme • Each book must have a central theme. • All pages will need to be about that theme • It must be approved by the teacher • An example of a theme would be a math book, fishing book, football book, car book, etc… Any questions see your teachers!!!
