Commissioning Panel • Specifically constituted for the programme • Role: - to assess and shortlist outline proposals - to assess full proposals in light of peer review comments and make funding recommendations • Mix of academic experts and ‘user’ representatives • Expertise will cover the disciplines of 5 Research Councils
Forms • All applications must be submitted via the Je-S system: https://je-s.rcuk.ac.uk/ • Outline Proposal • Helpdesk: JeSHelp@rcuk.ac.uk or 01793 444164 (open 9am to 5pm weekdays, except holidays) • Form has built in checks of content
Guidance Notes for Applicants • Je-S registration (institution and applicant) • At least a 48 hour lead time to submission should be planned • Lead Discipline select ‘No lead Discipline’. Select two further ‘secondary disciplines’ • Mandatory Attachments to Je-S form • Case for Support (up to 6 A4 sides) • Justification of Costs (up to 1 A4 side) • References (no page limit) • CVs (up to 2 A4 sides for each person named in the application)
Case for Support Outline Proposals • Page Limit 6 A4 sides • Funding of £8.7m (£7m @ 80% FEC) available. • Hope to make around 7 awards (subject to quality) • Must end by June 2012 • Detail on what to cover in Guidance Notes • what you propose to do • why you propose to do it • how you propose to organise it • Total length of annexed material is restricted to 3 A4 sides
Research Funding Guide • Applications should be costed on the basis of Full Economic Costs (FEC) • Cross-Council programmes ‘Level-up’ i.e. eligibility within any ‘one council’ is sufficient to secure eligibility within NDA • Follow the March 2007 ESRC Research Funding Guide as default:http://www.esrcsocietytoday.ac.uk/ESRCInfoCentre/Images/Research_Funding_Guide_2005-Mar07_tcm6-9734.pdf
Key Dates • Closing Date for Outline applications provisionally15th November 2007 • Panel shortlist outline proposals and invite full proposals for those shortlisted • Closing Date for Full applications provisionally mid-March 2008 • Final Decisions June 2008
