Cook Islands DRM Progress 2010 - 12 • Emergency Management Cook Islands (EMCI) and Climate Change • Climate Change for Disaster Reduction merger with EMCI under the Prime Minister Office. • A Joint National Action Plan for Disaster Response Management & Climate Change. • Ongoing Development of a Joint National Policy & Legislation for Disaster Management & Climate Change • Disaster Emergency Trust fund appropriation by Cabinet approved in May 2011 • Total of $NZ 264,000 for Enabling immediate response to disasters. Cook Islands DRM Progress 2010 - 12 • Early Warning Siren installation for all Islands Completed • Fixed Sirens for Rarotonga fully automated. • Outer Islands fixed sirens remains on manual, yet to be automated. • Tsunami Evacuation Road Signs fully installed for all Islands • Red Cross Emergency Management Shelter and Administration in full operation • Pukapuka Island Cyclone Management Centre (CMC) Completed • Manihiki Island CMC Upgrade completed • Ministry focal point and Community Disaster Coordinators on-going training on SOPs Rarotonga Community Beautification Programme MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS
