  1. 11-25-12 “God Saw a King” 1 Samuel 16:6-7 - When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

  3. Defining Moment: Facing Giants As [David] was talking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion…shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it. Whenever the Israelites saw the man, they all fled from him in great fear. David asked, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

  4. When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him…he burned with anger at him and asked, “Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness?” “Now what have I done?” said David. “Can’t I even speak?” He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter…(1 Samuel 17:23-30).

  8. Facing Giants: R.A.I.S.E. • Speak the Word “This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down…and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel” (17:46).

  9. Facing Giants: R.A.I.S.E. • (Be) Empowered by Spirit As the Philistine moved closer…David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him…and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine…and he fell…on the ground” (17:48-49).

  10. “It is not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the Lord. – Zechariah 4:6 • Speak “Grace, grace to [the stones].” – 4:7
