  7. Example: E4Water Costal Area Case Mild desalination of water streams for optimum reuse in industry or agriculture at affordable costs , Southern Netherlands • Site: In thesouth of theNetherlands, closetothecommunity • Production: plastics/ chemicals • Situation: • Scarefreshwaterregion • Relative dilutedwaterstreamswith different flows • Objectives/Challenges: • use more streams in the region (rain water, agriculture, municipal and industrial waste water) • find the possibility to collect and desalinate all streams for low cost water management. World Water Week 2013 – T. Track

  8. JIAP – Specific actions  Towards water loop closure: Internal recycling and reuse, focusing on sustainable/advanced reuse • Resolving the concentrate bottle neck (e.g. brines) in water loop closure  Water-energy-economy nexus  decouple / reduce the dependency between loop closure and energy demand Novel concentrate treatment options (such as membrane crystallization) • Technologies to avoid accumulation of critical substances that prevent recycling and reuse e.g. trace compounds, hygienic aspects World Water Week 2013 – T.
