Yo-Yo Ma’s Biography Was born in Paris in 1955. Began his cello studies with his father at age four. The family moved to New York where he studied at the Julliard School and at later at Harvard University, where he also received an honorary doctorate. Gave his first public concert at the age of five. Played at Carnegie Hall at the age of nine. Has recorded over 45 albums.
