Camp Rising Sun • Located in Rhinebeck, New York (100 miles north of Manhattan) • Experiential Leadership Program • Full scholarship • Gifted and talented students (ages 14-16)
Defining Our Goals • Foster an appreciation of diversity and common humanity • Expand intellectual horizons and heighten artistic sensibilities • Develop leadership abilities and self reliance • Offer and demonstrate a philosophy of living to serve society through the pursuit of humanitarian goals
Worldwide selection In 2013, each Camp will welcome 60 outstanding teenagers from 25 countries and 10 USA States · Barbados · Bulgaria · China · Denmark · Finland · France · Germany · Ghana · Greece · Hungary · Iceland · Iran · Israel · Japan · Korea · Netherlands · Nigeria · Norway · Palestine · Peru · Poland · South Africa · Spain · Sweden · Turkey · United States · Zambia
Instructions • Each day Campers may join any one of a variety of presentations or workshops offered by staff, visiting alumni, guests, or other campers.
Projects Campers work in self-chosen, peer-led groups on construction and other projects designed to add benefit to the community for succeeding generations.
Artistic Expression • Music • Drama • Visual Arts • Performing Arts • Field Trips
Outdoor Leadership Experiences Outdoor activities include hiking and camping trips
Swimming, Canoeing, Tennis, Basketball, Soccer, Football, Volleyball and other sports
Unstructured Time Several hours of unstructured time are available each day during which campers may enjoy a cross country jog or a variety of sports, practice yoga, continue Instructions or projects, cool-off in the pool, talk in small groups to promote cross-cultural understanding and exchange ideas to better understand differences in viewpoints.
