  2. The CROSS…!! Why the Cross…?? • Why did God chose for His Only Begotten, Beloved, Son Jesus, to die on a Cross, and not some other way ?? • Gal 3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree (Deut 21:23): That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. • Deut 21:22-23 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. (Joh 19:31-37) • Gen 3:17-19 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. • The word – Accursed – means in Hebrew (H7045, H7043): bring into contempt, despise, revile, made a curse, esteem afflicted • Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

What does the Cross Represent…?? • Foolishness and Wisdom !!! • Paul explains it in 1Cor 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. • 1Cor 1:19-20 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? • 1Cor 1:21-22 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: • 1Cor 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock (Acts 4:10-12, 1 Pet2:6-9), and unto the Greeks foolishness; • 1Cor 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. • 1Cor 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. • 1Cor 1:27-28 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: • 1Cor 1:29 That no flesh should glory in His presence!!! • 1Co 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified…

The CROSS…!! • Salvation & LIFE !!!! • Joh3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: • Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. • Num21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. • Num 21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. • Rom 8:1-2There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. • Blessing & Cursing…. • Jesus being made a curse for us – so that we will receive the Blessings of God • Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

The CROSS…!! • Judgement & Mercy • The Accuser has been dealt with !! • There is no one to Accuse you, thus no more Judgement, and thus no more Condemnation either… • ‘Cause Judgement brings: • Weakness, or Weariness • Sickness • Death • Luk10:18 And He said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. • Rev 12:9-10 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. • Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. • Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses; (Luk 23:34) • Col 2:14-16 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in…..

  6. The CROSS…!! Stare Attentively at the CROSS..!!! • To INCREASE YOUR FAITH !!! • Gal 3:1-2O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? • TO GAIN INSIGHT & UNDERSTANDING…!!! • 2Co 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. • 2Co 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. • 2Co 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. • YOUR MIND WILL BE RENEWED • Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. • 1Pe 4:1-2 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. • TO BE SAVED, HEALED, DELIVERED…!!! • Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? • Isa 53:4-5 Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. (Hos 6:1-3) • 2Cor 3:17-18 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.   7. The CROSS…!! • TO Receive the PROMISE OF GOD…!!! • Heb10:9-10 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. • Heb10:19-20 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; • Heb 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: • Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. • 1John 2:25 And this is the promise that He hath promised us, even eternal life. • Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. • Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. • Joh 3:18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

  8. The CROSS…!! How does the CROSS IMPACT MY Life Today.. ??? • It is asking of me to lay down, my own interests, and to Follow Jesus…!!! • Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. • Mat 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me. • Mat 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it. • Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. • Luk 9:25-26 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He shall come in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. • Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. • To be willing to Endure Suffering because of Righteousness…For GREAT is your Reward…!! (Phil 2:8-9) • Gal 5:11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. • Gal 6:12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. • Heb 12:2-3 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

  9. The CROSS…!! • Mat 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. • Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. • Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. • I have access to God as Our FATHER Through the Holy Spirit – ALL Because of the Cross…!!! (Gal 3:14) • Eph2:18-19 For through Him we both (Jew & Gentile) have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; • Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? • Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. • 1Jo 3:20-21 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. • 1Jo 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. • 1Jo 3:23 And this is His commandment, That we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment. • 1Jo 3:24 And he that keepethHis commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us. • So Go THROUGH the CROSS today – with Boldness / Confidence and FAITH – to The Throne of Mercy & GRACE – to receive answers to all your Prayers / Requests without any Doubt or Hesitation(Heb 4:16,Jam 1)

  10. The CROSS…!! Communion • 1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you-how the Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took a loaf of bread, • 1Co 11:24 gave thanks for it, and broke it in pieces, saying, "This is My body that is for you.Keep doing this in memory of Me." • 1Co 11:25 He did the same with the cup after the supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. As often as you drink from it, keep doing this in memory of Me." • Mat 26:28 For this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. • 1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. • Joh6:53-58 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eatethMy flesh, and drinkethMy blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eatethMy flesh, and drinkethMy blood, dwelleth in Me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent Me, and I live by the Father: so he that eatethMe, even he shall live by Me. • Joh 6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of THIS BREAD shall live for ever. • Let all these scriptures speak to you today – while you partake of the Bread and of the CUP – remembering what Christ Endured for YOU on the Cross…!!! ***** A M E N *****
