Confident – Children and young people have more confidence and skills Healthy – Children and young people have better physical, mental and emotional health Connected – Younger and older generations are better connected and have more understanding and respect for each other Enterprising – Young people are better prepared for getting a job or starting a business  The estimated budget for Young Start is £8.9m for 2012/3.

Hints and Tips • Tell us how children and young people will be involved in the development, design and delivery of your project. • Be realistic about your beneficiary numbers, potentially the more beneficiaries your project has the less impactful your work will be. • Don’t just apply for salary or equipment costs, ensure that you also include the costs of the activities that will deliver the outcomes for young people . • Remember you don’t have to deliver all of the Young Start programme outcomes. We only ask that you meet at least one.
