HP CoolSense lets you take greater control over your notebook PC's thermal settings through the use of pre-determined modes that balance performance, temperature, and internal fan speed/noise. Please see below for descriptions of each mode. On HP CoolSense will configure the thermal settings on your notebook PC to optimize the computer's performance to avoid temperature increases. As a result, the notebook PC will be more comfortable to touch. Off HP CoolSense will configure the thermal settings on your notebook PC to optimize the computer to operate at peak performance. As a result, sustained usage of your notebook PC may result in higher temperatures than in "On" mode. Auto HP CoolSense will auto-detect whether your notebook is stationary or mobile and optimize the notebook PC’s thermal settings to match your usage environment. In stationary use, HP CoolSense will prioritize performance and set itself to “Off” mode. During mobile use, HP CoolSense will prioritize temperature and set itself to “On” mode. This icon indicates that HP CoolSense is not engaged, and the user has the option to lower the notebook PC’s temperature by switching HP CoolSense to “On” mode.
