How to Market Your Company: The Pitch • Name of company/What products/services provided • Better/different/special/unique: Why is your company better than your competition?; what’s your competitive advantage?; how do you add value? • Current clients: Name clients that would be most relevant to the person you are talking to (ex. Similar industries, similar size & scope, Fortune 500 companies, etc). • Diversity status& certification (ex. USBLN certified, woman owned business); don’t start off with diversity status
How to Market Your Company: Understand Customer Business Needs • It’s not what you want to sell; it’s what the customer wants to buy • What keeps the customer up at night? • Did you research the company and know their challenges/location/divisions/products & services they provide/industry challenges? (ex. Pharma–limited to no promotional handouts; highly regulated) • How does the customer assess your organization? • RFI/RFP • Assurance • Quality • Service • Innovation • Cost • Regulatory
How to Market Your Company: Making the Best Impression • Marketing materials: Including business card, brochure, PowerPoint presentation, handouts, etc. • The pitch: 30 second, 1 minute & 2 minute pitch versions • Website: Are you an @yahoo.com or @abccompany.com? Does website have key information and easy to navigate? • Email: Is your company name, logo, email, phone number, and address at the bottom of every email automatically? • Grab interest: 7 words challenge • Networking: building relationships is key • Follow up: Clear, complete, and concise messaging; help the other person remember you---don’t assume they will (email, phone, in person, etc.)
