Curriculum The biology science class is aligned not only with the National Science Education Standards, but also, Arizona State Science Standards, CUSD Science Standards, and Arizona College and Career Ready Standards. In Science, we strive for inquiry based learning along with problem based learning. We incorporate topics such as: Biochemistry Cells and Cell Biology Genetics Bacteria and Viruses Classification DNA Ecology Photosynthesis Cellular Respiration Inquiry/Scientific Testing And Much More!
Science Expectations Absences: You can’t be successful if you’re not here! This is one of the most important aspects of your child’s education. Missing 2 days a month is too much. That’s 18 days per school year. Daily Routine: Either stamp homework or turn it, get out their agenda and warm-up to complete. Cell phones go in backpacks and backpacks go under the table. Classwork and Homework:reiterates and practices newly learned concepts College Ruled Composition/ Spiral Notebook:Used for completed activities, notes, labs, and reflections. 3-ring Binder or pocket folder- to keep graded assignments & activitiesthat do not go in composition book
Science Expectations Continued Attitude and Respect: Come to Class Prepared with a Positive Attitude Act in a Safe and Responsible Manner Respect and be Considerate of yourself and others Exercise Respect for School Property and the Personal Property of Others Extra Help: I’m available before/after school and conference
Grades Grades: CCHS uses an online system, Infinite Campus, that you have access to 24/7 (there’s even an app!) Point System with categories that include formative assessments and summative assessments. Quarter grade = 40% formative and 60% summative
Unit Test Corrections/ Retakes • If student scored below a 70%, they can make test correction or retake test. • The highest grade is they will receive is 75%.
