  4. GV Focus Area Key: Condition Criteria Example 1 Original: Students will analyze an excerpt to determine the author’s purpose. Revision: Students will analyze an excerpt todetermine the author’s purpose in a paragraph containing three (+) pieces of supporting evidence. IV

According to Marzano (2003) Not only do students learn more effectively when they know what they are supposed to be learning and why that learning is important to them, but teachers teach more effectively when they have the same information.
