  3. San Sebastian del Oeste ! Hidden in the hills of the Sierra Madre is the historical city of San Sebastian Del Oeste.Founded more than 400 as the mining capital of the new Spain, thismagnificient city is a living example of colonial Mexico. A short distance awayfrom the animatedbeaches of Puerto Vallarta, San sebastian stand surrounded by pine trees, at 4000 feet in the Sierra Masdre, a paradisethat has been preserved . Come seewhatmakesthis one of the Puebla Magica of Mexico. Discovercafe de Altura wherethey have been growing coffee for the past 5 generations.

  4. Destilladeras Themostbeautifullbeach of thebay! Uponarriving in Destilladerasyou will be enraptured not only by the beautiful scenery of the bay, but also by the family-friendly and welcoming ambiance that can be felt all along the five kilometer beach. It is common to see groups of young people and children playing with a ball, building interesting sand castles or jumping into the waves with their boogie boards. The beach encourages contemplation with its open, clean lands. Or enjoy a stroll along the fine sand beach as you relax to the sounds of the waves and the sight of a breathtaking sunset.

  5. El Eden Welcome to the famous Predator movie set, filmed in 1987: staring Arnold Schwarzenegger. A 30 minutes walks permits you to discover the suspended bridge above the Mismaloya river and to take a stroll in the jungle. You can take a picture of thehelicopterwiththepredatorstanding 2 feethighon top of it, try thezip line, swim in the natural pools orhave a bite in the restaurant.

  6. Boca de Tomatlan This last beach on the South Shore accessible by local bus or car is nestled in a cove where the jungle and river meets the sea. Boca, or mouth, is where the river of Tomatlan flows into the Banderas Bay. Located only about 10 miles south of Puerto Vallarta, this small fishing village's economy relies on tourism and the local catch. It is mainly a jumping off point for exploration of the surrounding beaches and alcoves.

Locatedabout 35 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, thecity has anellectic and bohemianambiancewithartists, tourists, surfers and indiansfrom Huichol and Cora tribes. Boca de Tomates Just before you cross the Ameca River bridge that separate the Jalisco and Nayarit states,surrounded by banana and papayatrees, a 2km road leadsyou to Boca de Tomates . has a particular and exotic place: a crocodile swamp. Also, from June to October this beach is the turtles preferred place to lay their eggs. Don't forget to visit the Turtle Camp! This quiet beach usually attended by locals is a hotel-free and construction-free site known by the several seafood restaurants palapa style and quite popular that offer shower and bathroom service.

  9. Mismaloya Mismaloya is a small village, located on the coast of the Banderas Bay, at the mouth of the river of the samename, south of Puerto Vallarta. Most famous as the site where the 1963 film The night of the Iguana was filmed, The set and crew quarters rise up the hill on the south side of the Mismaloya cove. Sadly, the set is only ruins now. The beach at Playa Mismaloya is located in a lovely cove, with a full view of Los Arcos sea rocks - a great place to snorkel and scuba dive. There are boats which tourists can hire, and the beach is home to several restaurants. You canalsovisit the zoo or take the road to El Eden.

  10. San Pancho San Pancho has preserved its rural essence and the authenticity of a picturesque Mexican town. Here one can still enjoy the serenity and the principles of old Mexico; where people take the time to chat rather than rushing to do business. Just an hour’s drive north of Puerto Vallarta airport but a world apart, San Pancho sits peacefully upon a wide palm fringed golden beach wrapped in a lush cloak of verdant jungle. Quiet cobblestone streets provide visitors and residents a safe haven in which to wander and discover the town, with delightful restaurants close at hand to enjoy delicious refreshment.

  11. Las Animas Beautifullbeach of 600 meters longwith a fine and white sand and gentlewaves. Itsclear water isperfect for snorkeling and its flat horizon permitsyou to seewhales and dolfinsfrom afar. You canalsorenthorses, waterskiing, parasailing, try the adventurepark in the trees or simply relax on the beach. Accessible only by watertaxi or a hike in the jungle.

  13. La Desembocada Located about 1 hourfromPuerton Vallarta, La Desembocada is a small village of about 600 peoples whereyoucanfindmostlyfarms and ranches. Following the river Mascotta a walk in the jungle willtakeyou to thermal pools. Built by the villagers, stone made pools permitsyou to indulge in the hot waters. The Mascota river close by allowsyou to cool down. A day of relaxation guaranteedwith the sound of the river and the surrounding nature.

  14. Los Reyes Los Reyes is a small village located about 2 hours in the heart of the Sierra Madre.Ascenic road takesyou to another time wherelifesgoes on slowly. On the wayyouwillpass a mine thatisstill active and breathtakingscenery. Uponarriving, we descend in the canyon and will explore the valley and the remains of the old San Juan mine. A cave awaitsyou and a fall drops behind the village.

  15. Yelapa Nestled in the southernmostcove of the Bay of Banderas is Yelapa. Easily accessible by boat, the beachiscovered in golden sandgreat for sunbathing. Wetheritis to swim, snorkel, walk in the jungle or in the village towards the waterfall, relaxingisassured. With no cars, the tranquility of the place felslike a paradise.
