8. Unit Commander140-6, 2-11 Establishes and continually assesses the program.
Appoints full-time Coordinator.
All are trained and aware of duties.
Welcome soldiers at first drill and accomplish initial counseling's.
9. First Sergeant140-6, 2-12 Manages the unit’s sponsorship program.
Selects and trains sponsors on their duties and responsibilities.
Provide a list of trained sponsors to the UA or Full time coordinator.
Maintains Sponsorship Log.
Ensures New Soldier Sponsorship Log is maintained.
Conduct personal interviews with each new soldier.
10. Unit’s Sponsorship Coordinator Responsibilities140-6, 2-13
Upon receipt of the GAIN REPORT, appoint a sponsor from the list provided by the unit 1SG.
Update the sponsorship Log.
Mail a welcome letter to the new soldier, include a drill schedule and map to the unit.
Mail the sponsor’s letter. Contact the sponsor to notify him/her of the sponsorship duties.
Notify the FLL and the First Sergeant of the newly assigned soldier.

12. Command Sergeant Major140-6, 2-10 Continually monitors the sponsorship program of subordinate units to ensure compliance with this regulation.

d. Verify USARC 62-R for recruiters initials for
escorting new soldier to unit.

15. Sponsors Duties140-6, 2-15 Call the new soldier before first training assembly, introduce himself/herself as their sponsor and discuss place and time they will meet prior to first formation.
Ensure the new soldier has transportation to first training assembly.
Provide the new soldier with their home phone number.
Discuss what to expect the first weekend.
Accompany the new soldier throughout in- processing and give tour of USAR center.
