Display • High quality screen EIZO CG301W • Playback quality of 1080i on progressive screen resulted in horrible quality • Ghost image, black lines • No way to play native interlaced 1080i signal with good quality, • TV sets perform internal de-interlacing; this professional grade monitor does not. So…

  9. De-Interlacing • 1920 x 1080 50p derived from 1080i • Signal energy different than native 1080p, so encoding effort different • Proposal to de-interlace VQEG HD6 to avoid monitor artifacts • Approach vetted by VQEG before implementation (March 23, 2009) • No objections received
