Agriculture & Health • Agriculture and health systems - critically & multiple interactions but we artificially separate them at all levels • Academic sectoral isolation in both research and training • Lack of common concepts and tools, e.g. for measuring the health value of agriculture • Lack of perception of health and agriculture research as co-positive processes • Policy & programme ‘silos’ • Mis-matches & missed opportunities for policies, programmes & people in the face of increasing agri-health interactions & challenges

LCIRAH • Overarching question: • How do we achieve sustainable food and agriculture systems which promote health and well being for all people? • Key themes: • Agriculture, poverty  and health • Agriculture, diet and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in development • Emerging food borne and zoonotic diseases • Value chain approaches in agri-health research • Innovative metrics for agriculture and health research and evaluation

  4. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES • Bring together researchers currently engaged in agricultural and health to • Identify the main research issues regarding the impacts of agriculture on workers’ health and of workers’ health on agriculture in different contexts • Review the current knowledge (what is known? what has not been investigated? etc.) • Formulate issues & questions for research • Stimulate partnerships / collaboration and information sharing in the future
