Government targets • Government's Climate Change Public Service Agreement (PSA) target shared by DfT, Defra & DTI. • PSA target commits DfT to working towards: • Kyoto target - reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12.5% by 2008-12 • Domestic targets - reduce CO2 emissions by 20 per cent by 2010. • Climate Change Act – framework to cut UK domestic emissions: 26-32% by 2020 & 80% by 2050

What we’re up against • 37% of CO2 car emissions from commuting and business trips • 25% of CO2 from car journeys generated by trips between 10 and 25 miles • Commuting and business have highest proportion of single occupancy car trips – 91% and 87% respectively
