State Issues/ Initiatives • Private Funding Gap • Increase TCIP Funding • Fund Life Science Tax Credit for private investment • Talent Recruitment and Retention • Support GOED’s Talent Recruitment and Retention initiatives • Support continued funding of STEM Action Center • Advance funding for Utah Life Science branding campaign • Success – Defeating Taxing the Life Science Industry the State match on the Medicaid Expansion • Testified against taxing the life science industry to help pay for Medicaid Expansion
BioUtah Recent Successes • Defeated Taxing the Life Science Industry to fund the State match for Medicaid Expansion • Worked collaboratively with national organizations and BioUtah members to educate policy makers on the impact a tax on industry would have on job and economic growth in Utah • Testified against taxing the life science industry to help pay for Medicaid Expansion • Released the BioUtah State of the Utah’s Life Science Industry Report • Held policy briefing on Capitol Hill for policy makers and business leaders • Met with Utah’s Federal Delegation, introduced them to BioUtah and educated on our key policy priorities • Met with Senator’s Hatch and Lee on the impact patent litigation reform on LS ecosystem
