  1. What Causes of Knee Pain and How to fix them? Knee pain is one of the most common pain that affects people of all ages. Knee pain is usually caused due to injury, torn cartilage, or a ruptured ligament. Additionally, some of the other medical conditions that can cause knee pain are gout, infections, and arthritis. Some common symptoms of knee pain are: Swelling or stiffness of the knee Inability to straighten the knee Redness Weakness

  2. The severity of knee pain would vary depending on the cause and location of the problem. As mentioned earlier, knee pain is caused due to mechanical problems, injuries, arthritis, and others. The prominent causes of knee pain are: Knee injuries - In a knee injury, the tendons, fluid, or ligaments that surround the knee joints are affected. Additionally, the bones and cartilage are also affected by the injury. Some common types of knee injuries are anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, knee bursitis, torn meniscus, fractures, and patellar tendinitis. Mechanical problems - Some types of mechanical problems that can cause knee pain are iliotibial band syndrome, dislocated kneecap, foot or hip pain. Arthritis - Arthritis majorly affects the joints and can cause severe joint pain. The types of arthritis that can cause knee pain are osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, pseudogout, and septic arthritis. Others - The other problem that can cause knee pain is a patellofemoral pain syndrome that refers to the pain between the kneecap and the thigh bone. It is commonly observed in athletes and older people. Thus, not all knee pain needs immediate medical attention. But few of the medical conditions such as arthritis, osteoarthritis, fractures, and others should be treated immediately as if left untreated, could damage the joint and lead to disability. One cannot avoid knee pain, but some suggestions that can help to prevent knee pain are to: Maintain healthy weight Practice your sports activities Strengthen your muscles Avoid high-impact activities or exercises Exercise regularly The treatment for knee pain would depend on the cause of the pain. Some of the treatment options to fix knee pain include: Medications - The doctor may prescribe pain-relief medications to get relief from the knee pain. Therapy - The doctor may recommend physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around the knee based on the condition.

  3. Injections - In some cases, the doctor would recommend injecting medications such as corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) directly into your joint to reduce your pain. Surgery - If your knee injury requires surgery, then the different types of surgeries performed for knee pain could include either arthroscopic surgery, partial knee replacement surgery, total knee replacement, or osteotomy.
