TENS: Melt the Pain Away The 21st century has led people to stick to one place, be it a chair in the workplace or a bed at home. Each and every work can be performed with a click on the phone. This has given rise to many types of back problems in the young generation all over the world. This gave birth to a TENS machine for back pain. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a treatment that administers mild electrical currents to the skin to relieve pain. A small, lightweight, hand-held, battery-operated device produces the electrical currents and lead wires send these currents to self-adhesive electrode pads that attach to the skin. One has to follow certain tips to properly use a TENS machine for back pain, one has to place either two or four pads on the affected area. One has to make sure they use the pads in pairs as they work together. One alone will not be effective. 1.Place the pads on either side of the affected area. 2.Be sure the pads aren’t touching. 3.Re-arrange the pads and experiment with the distance between them as well as the direction they are angled around the sore spot. 4.Surround the painful area with the pads on either side or spread out for larger areas. 5.Put a pad on each side and flank the spinal cord for pain across the shoulders or neck. 6.Turn on the machine and start at the lowest level. 7.Slowly increase the level until one starts to feel relief from the pain. 8.Leave the TENS machine for back pain on for 20-30 minutes but don’t leave the pads on the skin for long periods without giving the nerves and skin some relief. 9.Take the pads off and clean the skin beneath. 10.Repeat if necessary. Get rid of the back pain today with a TENS machine!
