  2. Landforms Mountains- The largest mountain in Mexico is El Pixo de Orizaba. Other mountains include Comila, Tlaloc, and Volcan Nevado de Toluca. Waterways- Gulf of Mexico, Rio Balsas, Rio Grande, Rio Verde, and Rio Lerma. Volcanoes- There are many active volcanoes throughout Mexico. The most famous one is the Pica de Orizaba. u Shares its borders with United States to the north, Pacific Ocean to the south and the west, Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea to the southeast, and Gulf of Mexico to the east.

  3. Tourist Attractions Chichen Itza-is a large pre-Columbian city built by the Mayan civilization. Today, it is the second most visited archaeological site in Mexico. Los Cabos- It is about 20 miles near the southern tip of Baja California peninsula. In the winter, whales can be observed in the Pacific ocean. Copper Canyon- is a lot of canyons together. Copper Canyon is several times larger than the Grand Canyon.

  4. Tourist Attractions Acapulco- Hollywood stars and millionaires started coming here as a place to vacation in the 1950s. It remains a popular resort destination for Mexicans and US college students. Guanajuato- Guanajuato was founded in 1554 next to one of the richest silver mining areas of Mexico. It has many colorful streets and alleyways spread in every direction.

Language • There is 287 other languages spoken in Mexico. • There are about 400,000 Mexicans who speak Arabic • Most of the people in mexico speak the spanish and indigenous language. • There are no official languages in Mexico. • Some of the Native languages are Nahuatl, Mixtec, Yucatec,Maya, and Zapotec.

Unemployment Rate: 5% Mexico has the 50th best economy in the world

Interesting Facts • Mexico is the 11th most populated country with about 117 million people as of 2012. • Mexico is the 14th largest country in land area. • The main symbol of the Mexican government is the golden eagle. • Even though bullfighting is the official sport, the most popular Mexican sport is soccer. • Mexico City hosted the Summer Olympics in 1968 • Mexico hosted the World Cup in 1970 and 1986 • It is the 2nd most Catholic populated country, only behind Brazil. • Mexico City has the highest elevation and is also the oldest city in North America.

  9. Independence Day Mexico celebrates Independence Day on September 16. On September 16, 1810, Mexico gained independence from Spain. Independence Day is celebrated with fireworks, parties, food, dance, and music. Flags, flowers, and decorations are displayed throughout the squares. Whistles and horns are blown to celebrate this festive occasion. This is a national holiday, so schools, banks, and government offices are closed. Next year, the Mexican Independence Day will be celebrated on a Tuesday.

  13. Culture The Mexican Culture is in the process of a large transformation. About half of all people live in cities, but others live in small rural villages. Family is very important to the Mexican culture, which includes extended family members. It is considered their job to take care of family members. There are many well known Mexican foods. Some include tacos, enchiladas, nachos, guacamole, and salsa. Religion is an important part in the Mexican culture. About 90 percent of all Mexicans are Catholic, 6 percent are Protestant, and there are also small communities of Muslims, Jews, and Buddhists. Clothing worn in Mexico is influenced by the international trends. Most people who live in more popular areas dress like the people you might see in Europe.

Sports Mexico’s most popular sport is soccer which in mexico they call it football.People from all of the cities near the stadium come to see the matches when they are played, usually on sundays they go. The official sport in Mexico is Bullfighting. Bullfighting in Mexico is similar to the spanish style of bullfighting. Bullfighting usually goes on in the months of November to March. You may by tickets at the front of the bullring.tickets are anywhere from $5 to $55.
