Snow in Turkey Runoff (m3/s) 60~70 % of the total annual runoff by volume comes from spring time snowmelt runoff. %62 of total volume NOAA Web Site-www.natice.noaa.gov/ims/
Objectives • Modelling discharge and snow covered area (SCA) • Forecasting discharge using numerical weather prediction data
Station Details Measurements between 1903m – 2937m in 13 stations.
Remote Sensing MODIS Satellite • MOD10 / Terra • MYD10 / Aqua • Combined (Terra + Aqua) • Temporal Filter AIM to reduce cloud cover
Remote Sensing From 46.93% to 3.64%, 93 % cloud removal is provided by Blended Product
Snowmelt Runoff Model Snow Covered Area (SCA) is used as INPUT
Hydrologiska Byrans Vattenbalansavdelning Snow Covered Area (SCA) is produced as OUTPUT
Hydrologic Modelling Results • For SRM and HBV, model parameters are adjusted manually in order to closely resemble the observed runoff data • Nash and Sutcliffe (R2) criterion is calculated as the goodness of fit for the snowmelt season (Feb-June)
