  2. In Italia abbiamo un proverbio: “a Carnevale ogni scherzo vale”. Significa che nel periodo di Carnevale tutti possono fare gli scherzi e soprattutto tutti li devono accettare con un sorriso! In Italy, we have a proverb: “every joke is allowed at Carnival time”. It means that, during the Carnival, everyone can joke and, of course, everyone must accept it with a smile!

  3. Ogni regione d’Italia ha una sua maschera tradizionale, che rappresenta i vizi e le virtù degli uomini. Pulcinella (Napoli, Naples) Pantalone(Venezia, Venice) Every italian region has got a traditional mask, that represents the vices and the virtues of the people. Arlecchino (Bergamo, close to Milan)

  7. Si usa mascherarsi e fare scherzi simpatici agli amici. We use to mask ourselves and joke with our friends.

  8. Si usa mangiare i dolci tradizionali: le frappe (o chiacchiere o bugie)e le castagnole. We use to eat the traditional sweets: the ‘frappe’ (or chiacchiere, or bugie) and the ‘castagnole’.
