  1. The ABCs of CBDs – Learning the Basics of Topical CBD Use & Storage Cannabinoids, or CBD, is a compound found in hemp and cannabis plants. CBDs can administered in many ways including smoking/vaping, tinctures, capsules, edibles, sublinguals, and topical in cream, balm or salve forms. CBD oil extracted from the flowers and leaves of industrial hemp or from cannabis plants, however, quality CBD oil found in greater quantities in legal industrial hemp. CBD oil may contain small traces of THC; however, these products are NOT psychoactive. In other words, they are not meant to get you high, so there is no need to worry about failing a drug test. CBD oil has therapeutic properties that used primarily for medicinal purposes, such as easing joint or muscle pain and reducing inflammation. Here is what you need to know: How Much CBD Should I Use? Everyone’s body is different, so nobody will absorb and metabolize substances in the same way. What works for one may not work for another. Finding the optimal dosage of CBD – whether administered transdermally/topically or ingested – is no different. The correct dosage for you will take a bit of experimenting. It makes sense that treating severe anxiety would require more CBD than easing mild joint pain. Start with one pump of CBD lotion, and fully rub it into the affected area/s. Use as directed for a few days. If you are not getting the relief you are seeking, step up the dosage gradually until you get the optimal effect. CBD is non-addictive so there is no risk of becoming physically dependent on the compound. Studies have also shown that the body can safely handle high dosages, although there may be a sedative effect. Will I Develop a Tolerance for CBD Over Time?

  2. One of the most problematic issues with traditional forms of pain relief medications is tolerance. For instance, over time cannabis users will develop increased tolerance to the effects of THC. This happens because THC binds to the cannabinoid receptors, eventually reducing their responsiveness to the chemical. As THC tolerance builds up, you will need to use more to achieve the same effect. CBD oils and products containing CBD do not work in the same way. Unlike THC, CBD actually increases receptor activity. In some cases, people will develop a form of reverse tolerance over time, so they will actually need less to achieve relief. How Should I Apply CBD Lotion? CBD delivery methods like creams, lotions and salves are ideal for treating localized pain. Apply the lotion directly to the affected area, massaging the cream into the skin until it is fully absorbed. Some people may experience almost instant relief, while others may need more time to feel the effects. One bonus of using topical applications of CBD is that the effects tend to last longer than other forms of delivery. Again, results will vary from person to person. How Should I Store My CBD Lotion? CBD lotion is similar to any other lotion and can be safely stored at room temperature. Store your CBD oil lotion and products in a cool, dark cupboard or pantry to protect from extreme heat, light or moisture. One important note: all CBD extracts will come in some form of carrier liquid such as coconut oil or olive oil. CBD lotions, extracts and other CBD products can be stored in the refrigerator, but be aware that depending on the type of carrier liquid, the product may become too thick for dispensing. Running a bit of hot water over the bottle can help thin out the product for use. Properly stored, CBD oil will remain fresh or about one year.
