Memory Verse: Romans 8:16 “16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” BIBLE PASSAGE:Romans 8:1-16 INTRODUCTION: In many Christian organizations some feel that they are Christians while some think and hope that they are but only a few know that they are. A person is either a Christian or not at all just as there is no half way in marriage. Therefore, to be sure that we are in Christ to be absolutely confident that if you die suddenly you are going to heaven. ASSURANCE OF SALVATION

  5. ASSURANCE OF SALVATION Outlines: WHO HAS THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION? WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS CAUSES OF DOUBT?

  6. Outline 1: • WHO HAS THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION? • Those who have genuinely repented, confessed and forsaken their sins – Proverbs 28:13, Romans 10:10. Those who believed on Him – John 3:16, 36 and have called on Him for mercy and received Him as personal Lord and Saviour – John 1:12. So, anyone who has sincerely done these things could be said to have the assurance of salvation. • Assurance of salvation should not be based on feelings because Satan may want to influence or control our feelings: while some feel great joy other may not feel anything. ASSURANCE OF SALVATION

  7. ASSURANCE OF SALVATION • Outline 1: • WHO HAS THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION? • To side track Satan along this direction, our assurance of salvation must be based on the word of God – 1 John 5:13, the witness of the Holy Spirit – Romans 8:16, and a changed life - John 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Outline 2: • WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS CAUSES OF DOUBTH? • It is often observed that after salvation, some doubts may creep in due to the following • Failure to trust the word of God or doubt it – Psalm 119:11. • If you sin, backslide or delay to confess your sins – 1 John 1:8-9. • Worldliness – 1 John 2:15-17. • Lack of the fullness of the Holy Spirit - John 7:37-39. ASSURANCE OF SALVATION

  9. ASSURANCE OF SALVATION • CONCLUSION • You cannot serve two masters. If you are going to serve God, then go the whole length with Him.
