  2. Topic aims • By the end of this topic you should be able to • Locate the six regions of the world using a map. • Identify some of the countries located in each region of the world.

  3. World Tourism Organization • The World Tourism Organization (WTO) is a globally recognised travel organisation. • It is the only intergovernmental organisation that serves as a global forum for tourism policy and issues.

  4. World Tourism Organization • The WTO have divided the world into six geographical regions: • Americas • Europe • East Asia/Pacific • Africa • Middle East • South Asia

  6. Regions of the world • These six regions have further divisions known as sub-regions. • For example: the region of Europe is further divided into Northern Europe, Western Europe, Southern Europe, Central / East Europe and East Mediterranean Europe.
