Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI) is the entity created by seven motion picture studios: - Disney, - Fox, - Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, - Paramount Pictures, - Sony Pictures Entertainment, - Universal Studios and - Warner Bros. Studios.
Final specifications for Digital Cinema: July 20, 2005 • See http://www.dcimovies.com/ • 80 pages out of 156 dedicated to security • Lot of protocols for the security of images, sounds, subtitles, ... • Putting together standards (NIST, IETF, ISO, IEC, ...), • Must protect for a long time the Hollywood production in the context of theaters, • Will change dramatically the distribution of movies
Basic cryptographic components • Encryption of images and sound: AES (128 bits) in CBC mode, • Protection of keys: AES (128 bits) or triple DES (112 bits),128-112 bits of entropy, • RSA signature with SHA-256, 2048 bits, 2 or 3 factors (each at least 680 bits), 128 bits of entropy • X.509v3 digital certificates, • Data integrity: HMAC-SHA1
