  3. Basic Facts • Craig Forrest was born on September 20, 1967 in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada • Height 1.96 m(6 ft 5 in) • Goalkeeper • Forrest was forced to retire from professional soccer because he had cancer.

  4. Teams Played For Craig Forrest played for 2 teams in 18 years. • Ipwich Town from 1984-1997 • West Ham United 1997- retirement in 2002

What Makes Craig Forrest a Good Player • Craig’s height gives him an advantage for being a goal keeper. • Craig is quick on his feet and can jump a long ways very quickly. • Craig was awarded most valuable player, most valuable goalkeeper, and best team of the tournament in 2000. He was also awarded Player of the Year in 1994, Player of the Season 1994-1995, and Fans’ Player of the Season 1994-1995.

  6. Good moves • Because he is so tall he is able to reach over players to get the ball away before the players get it.

  8. Why I enjoy watching Craig Forrest • I enjoy watching him dive at the ball and stop it when they are taking penalty shots on him. • I also like the fact that he is Canadian.

  9. My Three Questions What is the most difficult thing about being a goalkeeper? What is harder, the mental aspect or the physical aspect of the game and why? What are some of the things you did to help motivate your teammates?

  10. Why these questions? • Few players have played professionally for as long as he has. • The goalkeeper is a critical player on the team and is usually the one to encourage his teammates. • I am curious about the skills needed to be a professional goalkeeper
