RESPONSIBLITY • Every Student Completes Every Assignment! If your homework isn’t turned in, you will report to the Homework Help Room with your overdue homework and your lunch, each day, until your work is caught up.
INTEGRITY • Stand up for what you believe in. • Use the knowledge that you have learned from your parents and adults in your life to make good choices. • Help others around you make good choices. • Do the right thing. • Give 100% effort. Be the best you can be.
COMPASSION • Care about those around you. • Treat others the way you want to be treated. • Help those less fortunate than yourself. • Be a friend to someone who needs a friend.
HONESTY • ALWAYS tell the truth. • Honesty will build your integrity. • People will be more likely to trust you if you are honest.
Breakfast & Lunch • Breakfast is free. Keep your locker hallway clean. Garbage goes in the cans, milk cannot be stored in the lockers. • Lunch is on a rotating schedule which is announced every day. Noon supervisors will inform you if you are required to go to the homework help room. You will walk yourself to lunch, quietly. • The cafeteria is an extension of the classroom. • Exhibit respect to all cooks and janitors. • When you return to class, quiet in the halls.
School Security • Parents must buzz in Door #1 and report to the office. • Students must not let anyone in through any outside door into the school once class is in session—no matter who it is.
Attendance • Call the school before 9 am if your student will not be in school, with the reason for the absence. • All students coming to school late, or leaving early must sign in and out of the office. • Students may not leave the building without parent permission (written/verbal) • Maximum Absence Rule: 15/semester – over 15—no credit. • School attendance is directly correlated with academic success. STUDENT PLANNER & TARDIES • Every student receives a planner. • Passport pages are to sign out of study hall to go to the bathroom, locker, media lab, etc. • Write your assignments down • Parents—ask to see your student’s planner on a regular basis, encourage them to use it to organize themselves. • TARDIES—only 3 unexcused allowed a quarter=1 hour detention. 4 min. to pass between classes.
Student Handbook – OnlineMajor Changes • Character Ed (PLCs) Fridays (Wednesday will be a regular day) • Ramp Up to Readiness - Friday • All classes except quads (art, music, ag shop, FACS,AR, ALEK) will be on a semester system. • Every Student Completes Every Assignment—to get credit for a class you must have all the assignments completed and turned in. • To leave a study hall, you must give your cell phone to the teacher before you leave the room.
Important tidbits-students • Keep lockers locked. Click and spin. • Do NOT keep valuables in your locker. • Lockers are school property – school has the right to search. • Dress appropriately. • Study hall rules – always bring a book, must be working quietly. • Cell phones – strict rules in classroom.
Important Tidbits - Parents • Please check your child’s grades at least every 2 weeks. • Ask them about their homework. Ask to see the completed homework. • Have your students read at home, limit video/screen time. • Do not text/call your children during the school day. We can get a message to them. • If your child does not have an after school activity with an adult, they must go home at 3:00. • Encourage your child to participate in extra-curricular activities. Participation and academic success is strongly correlated. • If you suspect something isn’t “normal” for your child, it probably isn’t. Please communicate with us. Becoming a teenager is not an easy time in their life. • Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences in October and February.
Parents - JMC • Short Tutorial – go to www.tracy.k12.mn.us • Click on Links • Click on JMC Parent Access • Click on Video to access tutorial • Use JMC to check grades and attendance. • Alert Configuration • Send email alert when marked absent. • Send email alert when marked tardy. • Send email alert when missing score. • Send email alert when grade is lower than______. • Anything below a 60% is failing • Anything below a 70% is a D • Anything below a 80% is a C, etc.
Panther Pride • Beautiful facilities – keep them that way! (that means no rollerblades, roller shoes, or skateboards in our building, on the sidewalks, or in the parking lot.) • Thank the janitors and grounds keepers for their excellent job this summer. • TAHS teachers/paras are top notch – do not take them for granted. • When you see someone hurting or making poor choices, reach out to an adult so we can help before it is too late. • What kind of person you are is more important than what you accomplish or acquire. Be a “Good Person”.
