  2. MISSION STATEMENT • The Mission of the Cancer Exercise program is to empower adult cancer survivors to improve functional capacity and to increase their quality of life through an organized program of fitness and strength. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

  3. What is the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program? • A FREE small –group wellness program for adult cancer survivors • 12 weeks • 75 minute class, twice per week | PRESENTATION TITLE HERE

  4. PARTICIPANT CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION • Strong personal desire and commitment to attend all classes • 80% or more • Permission for LIVESTRONG staff to talk to health care team as needed • Medical release • Physically be able to participate in at least most activities • Willingness to fill out the required forms LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

ACHIEVING GOALS • Program protocols are individualized and include: • Cardiovascular Endurance • Core Muscular Strength and Endurance • Core, Flexibility and Balance • Other programs such as yoga, water exercises, Pilates etc., and education as requested or identified • Relationship building, support and interaction LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

  7. TYPES OF DATA COLLECTED • Intake form • Functional Assessment • Program Evaluation • Adverse Event Reporting Form • Testing and Collection Protocol LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

The training In order to become a provider of LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, Ys must participate in a 6-month training period, called a “Learning Cohort,” in which they receive training to deliver LIVESTRONG at the YMCA and also learn about the specific wants, needs, and interests of cancer survivors. • Pre-Work: • Engaging with Cancer Survivors E-Learning • Current CPR • Foundations of Group Exercise OR Foundations of Strength & Conditioning OR one of the Y-USA recognized Equivalent Certifications • Note: Candidates MUST bring proof of these pre-requisites to the training to be eligible for certification. • Post-Work: • Lymphedema Webinar LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
