    2. Definitions Energy is the capacity to do work or transfer heat. Work is the energy used to cause an object to move. Heat is the energy used to cause the temperature of an object to increase. A force is a push or pull exerted on an object that results in an acceleration.

    3. Units of Energy The SI unit for energy is the Joule Calorie - the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1g of water from 14.5C to 15.5C, but it is now defined in terms of joules: 1 calorie = 4.184 Joules (exact)
