Country • The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan. • Puerto Rico is an island surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean • Even though it is an island some people consider it to be apart of North America
Activities • Since Puerto Rico is an island you can do lots of things like surf • Another popular thing to do is to go crabbing • Baseball is one of the many sports that they have that you can do • While you’re their you might want to go see a roaster-fight • Horse Ridding can be the relaxing thing you need from all the other activities
Climate and Geography • On Puerto Rico they do have lots of rain but mostly between May and December • Temperatures are usually from 70 to 80 degrees all year-round • It has a dry southern coast and fertile northern coastal plains, plus low eastern mountains • Puerto Rico also has the El Yunque rain forest
Food • Tostones is a popular sidedishwhichisfried banana chips • Coquito is a spanish eggnog that is usually made in the colder holiday • Arroz Con Gandules is rice, green pigeon peas, and ham • LechonAsado Al Horno is a roasted pork • Sofritois a kind of Puerto Rican condiment
Currency • The money over in PuertoRico is the same as it is here, because they also use the U.S. dollar
People • José Campeche was a famous artist • José de Diego was a famous poet and politician • Luis Muñoz Marín was a politician • Rita Moreno (Rosa Dolores Alverio) was a singer and an actress • Roberto Clemente Walker was a baseball player
Facts • Women don’t change their last names when they get married • The population is 94% male and 94% female • Puerto Ricans usually die at the ages of 75 for the males and 83 for the female • They celebrate the birth of Eugenio Maríade Hostos as a holiday • Children usually don’t move out of the house in till they marry
