  2. Goal of this information session • To inform students of reasons for curriculum revision • Explain changes in curriculum • Explain consequences for students and their study plan • Offer possibility to ask questions

Why curriculum revision as of 2008-2009 • Current curriculum is highly regarded and received both national and international recognition, however: • We still see the opportunity for further improvements, based on signals and suggestions of : * students (evaluations) * authorities within the university (educational concept) * external authorities (quality increase in relation to other (inter)national comparable programmes) * corporate world • Developments at university level give rise to changes in the curriculum: * implementation of the university-wide minor system (extra room for elective courses)

  4. How to complete your bachelor programme • Complete the programme that you started • Courses passed and credits earned remain valid • Courses you have not passed yet will be replaced by new courses (equivalence table) • Make a study plan on time

The new curriculum • Earlier acquaintance with business themes in first year • Broaden the skills trajectory • More focus on research methodology • More cohesion between courses • More focus on educational format of courses • Clearer link to corporate world • More possibilities for international experience in curriculum • More room for elective courses

The new curriculum – main changes Courses that will change in Bachelor 1 in the new curriculum: • Informatics  Skills Trajectory – ICT • English for Business  Skills Trajectory – Oral Skills • Skills Training  Skills Trajectory – Oral Skills / Academic Writing • Foundations of Behavioural Science  Organisational Behaviour

  8. The new curriculum – main changes Courses of Bachelor 2 that move to Bachelor 1: • International Investment & Trade • Methodology These courses need to be finished in your second year, even though they move to Bachelor 1!

  9. The new curriculum – main changes Courses that move to another trimester in B1: • Skills Trajectory – Oral Skills (=EFB + ST) (Term 1  Term 2) • Skills Trajectory – Academic Writing (=ST) (Term 2  Term 3) • Organisational Behaviour (= FBS) (Term 3  Term 1)

  13. How to complete your bachelor programme • Complete the programme that you started • Courses passed and credits earned remain valid • Courses you have not passed yet will be replaced by new courses (equivalence table) • Make a study plan on time

How to complete your bachelor programme Step by step procedure • Cross out all courses you have passed before September 2008 on left side of equivalence table • For the remaining courses on the left side: look up the new courses on the right side of the equivalence table and highlight them • Look up the highlighted courses (right side of equivalence table) in the overview of the new curriculum and highlight the courses • The highlighted courses in the overview of the new curriculum are the courses you still need to pass in order to finish your programme and it shows you your study plan for 2008-2009

  17. Binding Study Advice Bachelor 1 students in 2007-2008: • Try to pass all courses of Bachelor 1 during academic year 2007-2008 • Courses you did not pass at the end of this academic year: make a study plan for passing them next year according to the new curriculum (equivalence table)
