  3. Objectives: • Create and Maintain Diagnostic Pick Lists • Create and Maintain Procedural Pick Lists • Assign Associations to Procedural Pick Lists

  4. Types • Pick lists can be made for: • ICD-9 codes • CPT codes • Pick lists can be Associated with other items

  5. EHR  POV/Prob List tab  pick list button  follow the prompts

  6. First list • If you have never created a pick list, you will get a message like the one below • Reply YES to get started. If you already have pick lists, you can select which one to edit or make a new one

  7. If you do not fill in any of the fields, this list is available for everyone You can make lists that apply to locations, providers, clinics, and disciplines The author is always a manager; sites can add other managers such as HIM and CACs Adding a Category

  8. Items can be added in several ways You can add them individually You can query the system to see what is being used already You can import a list from another site Adding Elements

  11. Adding Through a Query • You can pick a clinic or a provider to search • The computer will find the codes used and automatically add them • The HIM staff should review and remove those with less frequencies –clean up! • Be aware OLD codes that have been inactivated may be included in queries

  12. Importing a List • A list can be installed from another site using the import button • Again, these codes need to be reviewed and cleaned up before using.

  14. The code will come in with its “official” description Many providers would prefer a frequently used narrative or shorter name Rename Function

  15. Pick Lists and Superbills • Create by query • Create from PCC+ forms • Create associations with education, immunizations, etc. • Create special lists for supplies, etc.

  16. ASSOCIATIONS Associations can be made between diagnoses or procedures and other items such as CPT, HCPCS codes and/or education. This allows the provider or nurse to quickly move through documentation because the system will assign the codes and items associated with the event.
