Vocabulary • System of two linear equations: consists of two equations that can be written in standard or slope intercept form. • Solution to a system of equations: ordered pair form, (x,y) , which satisfies both equations. • Solution can be find when graphing two equations by finding the point the lines intersect.
Systems of Inequalities have 3 types of Solutions: • 1) one solution: lines intersect • 2) no solution: lines do not intersect • 3) infinitely many solutions: same line
Example: • (EX 1) Graph the linear system and estimate the solution. Then check the solution algebraically. 4x + y = 8 2x – 3y = 18
