Dementia progress (April 12) • Commitment to both Cumbria Dementia Implementation Group & Lancashire Dementia Expert Reference Group/QUIP programme • Hospital ‘Dementia Steering Group’ established and lead by clinicians & senior nurse • Weekly multidisciplinary team meeting for 3/12 to maximise rapid change/momentum • Review of current pathway to identify areas for improvement • Retrospective review of complaints with a dementia focus
Dementia progress (April 12) • Support from Price Waterhouse Cooper with project • Training budgets allocated for training (10k) • Support from Kings Fund academy regarding environmental review • Quarterly reports to Patient Services & Experience Committee • Engaging with Governor & Patient representative • CQUIN plans under development • Dementia screening • Dementia risk assessments • Referral for diagnosis
Next steps • Steering group identifying milestones for change and any risks associated with project • Develop additional dementia champions across all clinical areas • Engage with pharmacists on all site to identify ‘champion’ • Develop locality links in Furness, South Lakes & North Lancashire • Commence Kings Fund academy work • Further work with third sector supporting awareness campaign
