  2. Background Over time: UZAs have been combined New UZAs have been designated UZAs have become contiguous large projects impacted multiple MPO areas MPOs were asked to consider consolidating or improving regional coordination

  3. Background MPOs, recognized the value of improved coordination across MPO boundaries But wanted to maintain autonomy for a variety of reasons So, MPOs formed formal alliances of two or more MPOs working together on issues of joint interest

MPO Regional Alliances 22 of Florida’s 26 MPOs have entered into formal arrangements to coordinate regional transportation planning activities with one or more neighboring MPOs Resulting in: Regional planning activities and studies Support and programming for larger projects important to multiple MPO areas Florida's MPOs Participating in Regional Alliances
