Rose by: Diana Witherspoon There was a rose Trail down his finger Standing straight and tall And dropped like tears A boy came over He wasn’t mad, but upset And dirtied the rose He patted the rose on her last petal The rose didn’t care With his red hand Until her petals started to fall One by one the petals came back One by one Brighter red than ever The boy tried to touch her The boy disappeared Lovely green stem And the rose stood straight and tall But its thorn cut him Flowing her lovely beauty A stream of crimson red Around the air once again
