Schedule of Visits • Every 4 weeks until 28 weeks • Every 2 weeks until 36 weeks • Every week until birth • If at risk increase maternal and fetal surveillance
Vocabulary • Ab- before 20 weeks • Nullipara- no births before 20 weeks • Primpara -one birth after 20 weeks • Gravida- pregnancy regardless of duration • Nagle’s rule minus three months + 7days
Nursing Interventions • Nutrition and weight gain • 3-5 lbs first trimester • 1 lb. per week for 2nd and 3rd trimester • Anticipatory guidance- trimester appropriate • Childbirth classes-trimester appropriate
Danger Signs of Pregnancy • PROM • Premature contractions • Bleeding • Fever, chills • Blurry vision, H/A, epigastric pain • Decrease fetal movement
True Labor • Increase in UC frequency, duration, intensity • Bloody show • Loss of mucous plug • Rupture of membranes • Assess previous hx
