  1. Overview Information Technology, or IT for short, is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardwar." IT deals with the use of electronic computers eand computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information. Image Analysis and Manipulation with Photoshop Photoshop is by far one of the most advanced photo editing programs out there. It basically allows you to change a picture into anything you desire. For example, most models have their photo photoshopped and enhanced into a more appealing picture as seen Making Information Available to the World with HTML and Web Pages IT and recent technology has allowed us to put simple html and webpages on the web so the whole world can see. Presentation of Information with Word & PowerPoint Microsoft Word and PowerPoint are exceptional tools that allow us to transfer from word and pictures. Computational Thinking Computational Thinking is an abstract way to approach an idea and is a new way of solving problems that gets its name because it uses many of the same techniques used by computer science. Computational thinking can be used to algorithmically solve complicated problems of scale. Computational thinking is often used to solve problems of efficiency and to realize large improvements in efficiency through novel approaches to problem solving. In other words it is basically thinking outside of the box. It is useful when it involves some sort of logical thinking is involved. Visual Programming with Scratch Scratch is an easy to use program which allows novice computer programmers to get a glimpse of the idea of how to program and write code. This easy to follow program allows one to code games, write programs, have short instances etc. Scratch helps potential computer programmers to grasp the concept behind programming which better prepares them for their career in the future. Data Analysis and Visualization with Excel Excel is one of the most convenient and easy to access Microsoft Office tools that allows one to organize a set of data on a spreadsheet and to graph it visually. This allows the user to not only visualize the data that he or she has recorded, but also allows the individual to play around with the data in ways to rearrange the axis or manipulating the scale to fit. Excel has helped to organize long sets of data into a single organized visual graph. CSE 3 Winter Quarter Joe zhang 2010
