3. Thinking map Think about the type of services we need in everyday life How often do we use them? Are there any differences between pubic and private services? How big sector is it in the national product? Where and how are these services provided?

4. Difference between public and private services • In my opinion/I think public services are provided by the government on a non-profit basis. They are not commercial services. Publlic authorities have a responsibility to ensure them for everyone because they cover everything from environmental protection, social services, healthcare…to education. Usually public services, especially for medical treatment/education…are cheaper/more widely available.

5. Benefit of public services • We all benefit from public services. We regularly use public transport, education, water and energy supply, rubbish removal, broadcasting and communication services. Young people hardly ever use medical services but elderly do. Other services we can use are police and fire services, hopefully not very often. :O)

6. Private services • We all go shopping regularly, all the young people can not imagine life without internet, not just for school stuff. An essential private service for many ladies is the hairdresser´s and nail salon. Lots of people go to fitness centre/gym/swimming pool. Bank is also a necessary service since all the main transactions are made via internet banking…

7. Accommodation • Accommodationisprovided by: Hotels – the most expensive but very comfortableac., usually very wellequippedroomswith TV withsatellite, drink bar, air-conditioning and modernfurniture Bed and breakfast, budget hotels – oftenhaveprivatebathrooms, owntoilet, sometimes TV and theywilloffer free Wi-Fi or internet connections in the lobby. Theymayhaveluggagestorage Hostels and camps – here are oftenbunkbeds and theyoffer more simpleacc.and basic services, commonshowersforthewholefloor.

8. Other services • Restaurants – very popular private service, we have wide range of cuisines, Chinese, Indian, Italian,…There are now almost all the fast food chains in the Czech Republic. • Post office – we post letters and packages, buy stamps, pay bills (for example electricity, gas,..)

9. Použité zdroje Pokud není uvedeno jinak, jsou použité objekty vlastní originální tvorbou autora. Materiál je určen pro bezplatné používání pro potřeby výuky a vzdělávání na všech typech škol a školských zařízení. Jakékoliv další využití podléhá autorskému zákonu. Veškerá vlastní díla autora (fotografie, videa) lze bezplatně dále používat i šířit při uvedení autorova jména.
