Why is it important to eat Fruits? / What are the benefits of the fruits group? • It is important because it will reduced your risk of some chronic diseases, stroke, heart diseases and blood pressure. And it is important for your health and protect your body. • Most fruits are naturally low in fat, sodium, and calories. None have cholesterol. • Eating fruits are part of healthy diet and may reduce the risk of developing kidney stones and may help to decrease bone loss. • And more Fibers.

  3. What is in Fruit Group? • banana • fruit cocktail • gala apple • grapefruit • grapes • mango • orange • orange juice • peach • plums • raisins • strawberries • Etc.

  6. ½ large peach = ½ cup ½ cup of strawberries ¼ cup of raisins 1 small Gala Apple = 1 cup One small Orange = ½ cup Fruit Cocktail = ½ cup 50 grapes = 1 ½ cups ½ cup of orange juice 1 large banana (8” long) = 1 cup 1 medium of Mango

  7. All of fruits is… • Equal. Nothing better. • Girls have to eat 1 ½ cups of fruits while boys have to eat 2 cups of fruits per day. All fruits have essential nutrients such as: Vitamin C, folate, potassium and dietary fiber.

  8. Interesting Facts • “Eating an apple is a more reliable method of staying awake than consuming a cup of coffee. The natural sugar in an apple is more potent than the caffeine in coffee.”Pumpkin is part of fruits. So is tomato too.

  9. Fun facts. • Many fruits taste great with a dip or dressing. Try low-fat yogurt or pudding as a dip for fruits like strawberries or melons. • Top off a bowl of cereal with some berries. Or, make a smiley face with sliced bananas for eyes, raisins for a nose, and an orange slice for a mouth. • And make smoothies from fruits. Yummy!
